Pigeon

Consider the pigeon – gray breasted bird;

How he is spurned from man’s dominion broad.

A duller beast I have not seen or heard

In flight o’er house and tree and babbling brook.

What has the dove – with plumes of shining white –

That makes her a more pleasant counterpart

To pass within my hazy line of sight?

The colorblind see more fair birds than I.
